PERSONALITY:
Stereotypes may exist, and trust Duncan, Slytherin is filled up with them. While most Slytherins go out and party Duncan stays in his dorm and studies like a proper student. He does not rub it in, nor does he ever back hand someone who is the polar opposite of him. Most of the time Duncan keeps to himself, until it comes to Quidditch. The boy is driven, and his ambition is what landed him in Slytherin. He was not thrown in there because he was a spoiled boy with a privileged life and craved to keep up his lifestyle. While he may come from an upper class family, that does not set his personality in stone to be like most around him.
The few times you see this boy get frustrated is during Quidditch, whether watching it or playing it. He is highly competitive when it comes to the sport and does not like to see his teams lose. Hell, one time he tried punching a wall only to break his weak ten year old fist, just because the Kenmare Kestrels did not win the match that they had in the palm of their hand. When Slytherin loses Quidditch, the common room is the last place his house mates want to be, especially the ones that were playing. He finds it necessary to tell them everything that went wrong and how they could be better. It's those comments that convince people he'll go professionally in to Quidditch and eventually coach a team.
His love life has not been as colorful as his sporting track record. Actually he has only gotten as far as one date with girls. He always finds something wrong with the girls he has asked out within a few hours. The most common is that they talk way too much. Honestly, it always gets to the point where he does not want to know anything about them and wishes they went back to being strangers in the crowd at school. At the end of a date they always start talking simply to talk and that is something that Duncan could never stand. Why can't the two just sit on a couch and cuddle, followed by anything of that nature? Of course, if he hints at anything towards a girl they suddenly get overly offended and once again proving that he does not have his brothers' charm.
There's some notes in here... Were they writing their freaking life story? HISTORY: The Gibbs family was never one to go through a serious financial crisis. That being said, they, like most, did face times where they were convinced one bad mistake could make them bankrupt. Still, they always made sure their sons had whatever their hearts desired. Each boy grew into someone who had the ability to become who ever they wanted to be. From a young age, Duncan was always the more quite of the three boys and because of that and being the youngest he always got the rough end of what ever games his brothers wanted to play. Though they did not intend to beat him up so hard, accidents happen and there were a few times where Shannon had to bring Duncan to work to get the right healing potion for his broken bones.
And despite all those times he had received a broken bone, he kept strong bonds with his brothers while they were all young. Frequent trips to see national quidditch games--paid for by his mother--as a family bonding experience is always helpful with that. Sadly, nothing lasts forever nowadays; especially marriages. Shannon and Leroy's was no exception and the year before Duncan was off to Hogwarts, they split. The boys were given the option to live with either parents or transition from each household every summer. Even though his dad was his dad, Duncan chose to live with his mum in a new neighbor hood and where his mum's income did not effect their living. Seeing as for the last few years Leroy had been "between jobs".
After the divorce was finalized and his mum had found a new house, it was not long before Duncan was getting on the train with his brothers to go to Hogwarts. He followed his brothers' and father's footsteps into Slytherin, where he had the hardest time making friends at first. That mostly came from the fact that eleven and twelve year olds always need to make themselves look bigger by acting tougher. Where as Duncan was one of the students that sat quietly in a corner with a book. By third year he had found a few people he could hang around without getting sucked up into the party life every single night. Nowadays he will only go to parties as a treat for finishing up all his homework on time, which is quite a hard task to accomplish. At least this year he does not have to worry about NEWTs.
