PERSONALITY:

Most of Maddox’s life is determined by last minute decisions and spontaneous choices. His love of adrenaline rushes dictates most of his rambunctious ways. He has little care or worry for the future, distant or even immediate, only living in the present, thinking about the moment just before the current one, what he could do in it and how it would be even more exciting than the last. This is a virtue and a downfall. Because of this, he is not a worrier, and doesn’t waste time thinking about things that don’t require thought. However, he has developed a nasty habit for requiring excitement. Mostly, he inhibits his own natural thought process with various forms of drugs. His addictions have gotten out of control in the past, and there’s no telling what might happen in the future. There are very few things that remain constant in Maddox’s life, his need for restless entertainment and excitement being perhaps the only one.

HISTORY:

The Montague’s were not unlike any other death eater family, which is why they were horrified to find out their only son was marrying hufflepuff Penelope Clearwater. Octavius was instantly disowned, cut off from his wealthy inheritance, and basically exiled from death eater society, or what was left of them. The pair were happy together though, which was what counted in the end. Though Octavius was a relatively stoic and stone-faced man, Penelope understood him, and she was a shining light where he had none. They were cast out from each side of their own societies, but found solace in one another.

They had two children, a girl, and three years later, a boy, Maddox Dexter Montague. Octavius was particularly taken with his son; unfortunately, this favoritism was painfully obvious to everyone who witnessed it. Octavius allowed the boy to participate in whatever activities he wished, and spent a lot of time with him, teaching him everything he knew about the world and the people in it. Maddox, or Max to close friends and family, was particularly drawn to anything the least bit dangerous. He loved fire, mountains, going fast in any respect, jumping, and playing with dangerous objects. His mother was constantly beside herself, but his father found the traits intriguing, and allowed Maddox to indulge himself.

Soon, however, he was of school age, and Maddox was sent off to Hogwarts School. To his mother’s secret dismay, both of her children were sorted into Slytherin. This was, although, to their father’s great delight, as he hoped that his promising son would be the link back to his family that he’d lost so many years ago. Maddox was anything but an obedient student. He was constantly breaking rules: being out of bed at night, using magic in the hallways, reading books from the restricted section, and exploring the forbidden forest, to name a few. He never got into anything, really, besides his own brand of mischief making with his friends and on again, off again love interest Dakota Fitzgerald, but even to them he is still a mystery. The one major achievement during his time at Hogwarts was mastering the art of Occlumency, so as to protect himself from the meddling minds of others. As he grew older, pure mischief wasn’t enough. He turned to drugs and alcohol to find his fix…almost to a lethal degree…

For Maddox’s sixth year, he mysteriously did not return to Hogwarts. His whereabouts were unknown. He didn’t answer owls and all the teachers at school were very tight lipped (mostly because even some of them didn’t know the entire story). Only his family members (a sister who since left Hogwarts) and Dakota knew that he was in a rehabilitation facility for excessive drug use. He was released in May of what would have been his sixth year.

Now seventeen, Maddox returned to Hogwarts to complete his sixth year in hopes of graduating the year after. His rehabilitation was ineffective; as soon as he was released, his urges and mental need for excitement and drive brought him back to the same old routines.
