TERROR IN LONDON Fiendfyre spreads throughout Diagon Alley At approximately 10:45 this evening, a fiendfyre spell was cast in lower Diagon Alley. The spell itself was directed towards the upper apartments of the popular pub, The Leaky Cauldron, which instantly caught fire. The fire itself continued to spread throughout the establishment, burning it to the ground. Within minutes, the fire had spread to other buildings in the alley, destroying approximately one third of the street’s buildings. The apothecary, cauldron shop, Quality Quidditch Supplies, Eeylops Owl Emporium, stationary shop, and Flourish and Blott’s all suffered extreme damage, resulting in complete demolition. By 11:10, ministry officials, as well as volunteers, managed to put the fire out before it caused any further damage.
Lavender Finnigan, 45, and Emily Gables, 19, were both in the upper apartment of the Leaky Cauldron at the time of the incident, and did not survive. Lavender is survived by her husband, Seamus Finnigan, and their children, Sam, 19, Thomas, 18, Evangeline, 17, and twins Jackson and Maxwell, 1. Emily is survived by her daughter, Sarah Gables, 1. Both will be dearly missed.
St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is brimming with burn victims, as well as those suffering from temporary respiratory issues caused by smoke. Says spokeswitch Velma Blishwick, “Our healers are doing all they can to attend to the incoming surge of victims. The fire itself was extremely widespread and toxic, and it may be a couple days before even the least-affected of these patients are released.”
As for the cause of the fire, the spellcaster has not been found. Says Harry Potter, head of the auror office, “The fire itself was extremely rampant, indicating that the spellcaster was most likely a young witch or wizard.” When questioned further about the events surrounding the start of the fire and the identity of the caster, he said, “We are actively pursuing answers to these questions. This matter is not being taken lightly.” He declined any further comment.

When Maddox Montague, Dakota Fitzgerald, and Washington Fitzgerald left for one last night on the town before returning to school, they never imagined just how destructive their FOOLISH GAMES could become...
The three Slytherins were itching for some excitement before returning to school, as they were quite ready to get away from their homes after the elongated holidays. Maddox suggested they go to the Leaky Cauldron, a popular wizarding venue on a Saturday night. He was of age, and could buy drinks for all three of them.
The Leaky Cauldron was packed indeed, full to the brim with witches and wizards out for a carefree night on the town. The Fitzgeralds and Maddox were not the only young wizards in the pub, surrounded by classmates also celebrating one last hurrah before classes began again. This only irritated them more, coupled with the fact that the bartender, Leroy Longbottom, refused to sell him more than one firewhiskey at a time (to limit the amount consumed secretly by unders). Frustrated at his surroundings, Maddox decided to dip into a bad habit he once kicked. In the bathroom of the Leaky, Maddox and Washington each snorted a finely crushed line of crack-cocaine.
After exiting the bathroom and finding Dakota, Maddox approached the bartender, threatening a fight. Hugo Weasley and Ariana Saft, friends of Longbottom also in the pub, immediately stood and vowed to defend their friend. Outnumbered by older wizards, Maddox, Dakota, and Washington were all asked to leave, and promptly thrown out. This only infuriated Maddox more.
Outside, just before the three Slytherins apparated for home, Maddox turned on his heel and cast a very large fiendfyre curse, which shot through the upper windows of the Leaky Cauldron. Seconds after, the three disapparated. High and out of control, Maddox and Washington passed out outside of the Montague mansion, Dakota side-along-apparating them illegally into the house. Little did they know, as they slept, Diagon Alley was burning to the ground...
