PERSONALITY:

INDECISIVE: Washington is not someone who makes up his mind easily. He can change his mind a dozen times in ten minutes. He doesn't commit to giving an answer or a decision immediately for that reason alone. Not because he hates someone or anything. Though if he gave someone that impression, it probably means he does hate him or her.

LAZY: Wash is a lazy person, there is no denying that. He hates doing homework and writing essays. If there's a shortcut, he'll take it, even if it'll cause him more trouble later on. You know, like cheating on his girlfriend and effectively ending the relationship rather than talk to her about his feelings. If he could apparate within Hogwarts rather than climbing the stairs, he would. He is only lazy about matters he doesn't care about. If it's Quidditch, you'll see him at every practice session.

ESCAPIST: Washington has an inclination to escape from reality when things get too tough or unpleasant for him. Most of the times, he takes to flying around the Quidditch pitch even if there are teams practising there. Sex has become a form of escapism for him as well.

SENSITIVE: While he might not look the sort, Wash can be sensitive and empathetic. When he wants to. If he wants to. He is able to listen well, though his advice should not be taken seriously.

ADAPTABLE: Washington can handle himself well in any situation. He's friendly enough for two people, that is, if he's in a good mood. He's not an attention seeker, but he won't object if someone's paying him attention. Wash is not leader material nor is he a follower. He would prefer not to get in anyone's business, but his sarcastic remarks often prevent that from happening.

HISTORY:

The story of Velma Blishwick and Ignatius Fitzgerald started as a fairy tale but didn't quite end happily. Ignatius Fitzgerald was born into a military family in America and had no inkling that magic even existed. Velma Blishwick was from a once mighty pureblood family in England. The two of them met purely by chance in Washington where Velma was visiting a friend. They hit it off and to their families' disapproval, got married within six months of knowing each other.

Their first born son was born five months after their wedding. Ignatius decided to name his son in honour of the state where his parents had met and fell in love. For the first year of his life, he had his parents to himself. After a year, he had a sister. Washington wasn't very pleased with the attention she got, and that was when the strange things began to happen. Velma hadn't told Ignatius that she was a witch, and she tried to keep it from her husband. Wash had his little tantrums when his father was at work. When his father came back, his mother made sure to give her attention to him, in order not to have her son reveal his magic.

For several years, that worked. Until Dakota grew up and started showing signs of magic of her own. One day, his father came home to surprise his family and instead found his wife entertaining their children with magic. Ignatius couldn't comprehend that his wife was a witch, and even worse, had kept with from him. He filed for divorce, let Velma take full custody of the children and Washington never saw his father again. He was four when all that happened.

His mother, very much heartbroken, moved back to England together with her children. There, she got herself a job in St Mungo's as a Healer and let her mother take care of her children while she worked. His grandmother told him some nasty things about his father, and when he asked his mother about it, she didn't deny it. With no one to object to that and as a child easily convinced, Washington grew up disliking his father.

The remainder of his childhood was uneventful. His grandmother taught him little spells of magic, in her own attempt to prepare him for Hogwarts. The letter to Hogwarts came soon enough and Wash was sent to the magical school. There, he was sorted into Slytherin. He quickly established a reputation for being disruptive in class, getting sent to detention at least once a week and not handing in his homework. Letters sent to his mother from the Professors didn't have much effect on him.

He was not one to change for the better. He picked up smoking at the beginning of his third year. After landing in the Hospital Wing after a duel with an older year when he was a third year, Wash met someone. Her name was Mollie and though he was not going to admit it, it was quite safe to say he fell for her quickly. She had been assigned to tutor him and they became friends soon enough. In his fifth year, he finally asked her out on a date. For a while, all was good. Until Wash felt that they were getting too serious. The male got scared, had a few drinks and slept with someone else, cheating on Mollie. Since then, things have been awkward between the two, but Wash has been slowly making things right. Even if he does get jealous when she talks about other guys.

Washington is now in his sixth year and while he doesn't see himself passing with flying colours, he also wonders if grades are needed to have a career in Professional Quidditch.
