“What could you possibly want, Bella?” The question had simply caused Bellatrix to grin, though it had contributed to her already present annoyance and caused her to allow her darling little sister to be approached by something (yes, the old man was a ‘thing’ to her) so filthy most sane humans wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. The initial look on her sister’s face when confronted with bloody rat tails was simply priceless, and she savored the moment with a discreet smugness. Naturally, Bellatrix had seen such things before and could easily brush of any filthy low-life such as this man by refusing to acknowledge their existence, but Narcissa had most likely not been in a similar situation before. That would have surprised her greatly, anyway.
The look the blonde sent her just before raising her wand was one that initially surprised Bellatrix. These little feuds between the Black sisters were not uncommon, but although it was becoming more common, it was equally shocking every time Narcissa actually managed to see through her little ploys. That had never been the case when they had been children, with the older girl tricking her sister into sticky situations she could never truly be blamed for. On the other hand, she knew this was different. If Cygnus learned they had ventured this far into Knockturn Alley, he was bound to be angry with her. Even if Narcissa had in any way been to blame for them being here, which anyone who knew the two would be hard-pressed to believe, Cygnus was bound to take the side of his youngest, and when he did that, Druella rarely dared stand up against him.
That realization caused her to seriously consider stepping in for a moment, but before she could do so, Narcissa seemed to be in control once again. Not only did the porcelain doll somehow conjured up the courage to order the filthy old man to leave, but she had done so complete with a snide remark aimed at her older sister. Now that was a surprise – and in all honesty, it caused Bellatrix to feel something resembling pride. She wasn’t offended by her sister’s snide remark, naturally, as she wasn’t the type of girl to sit down and whine because she was compared to something unflattering, but slightly impressed nonetheless. Letting her know that was a completely preposterous idea, though, so instead, she simply smiled faintly.
Any other person might have left it at that, pleased to see that the younger girl had been able to deal with this by herself, but Bellatrix was nothing like most other people. Not only was she proud, but a proud woman of the reputably influential and vengeful Black family and a death eater, too, so she did not intend to let this go unless she got the last word. Perhaps it was a bit childish, resorting to a petty argument like this, but she couldn’t let her baby sister get away with insulting her. She didn’t intend to be painstakingly obvious about her comeback either, though, and instead decided to play on something than Bellatrix herself should probably feel worse about than she did. ”Oh, I forgot – you have your loving, devoted Lucius,” she said, her voice venomous. The sarcasm seemed unlikely for Narcissa to detect, since neither Bellatrix or Lucius had informed her of certain… events. Bellatrix was quite content to know that she could have even her sister’s man if she so desired, though, and once again, a smug smile appeared on her face.
”Now, Cissy dear, lower your wand. You’re not old enough to do that yet,” she remarked sweetly. Then, turning to the filthy thing still standing next to them, she arched her eyebrows and glared at him as she pushed him aside, causing him to drop the disgusting tails on the ground. She did not pause to wait for Narcissa as she continued walking down the grimy alley, expecting her sister to be following behind anyway. Despite the situation being rather amusing, Bellatrix did still not have what she came here to get, and once she got a hold of it, there would be time for having fun. At this point, however, she had wasted enough time.
