PERSONALITY:

Sam, as the lad prefers to be called, likes attention. He’s not an attention seeker per se, but he won’t necessary take himself out of the equation if there’s people fawning over him. There’s that trait of recklessness in him. More than once, Sam has landed himself into trouble simply by looking at someone the wrong way. That, with the annoying habit of him speaking his mind, does little to endear him to people. But that’s fine by Sam. He doesn’t need to be adored. After all, flinging insults at him is much better than staying silent. Sam doesn’t like silences. There’s something about the quietness that spooks him, not that you’ll ever get him to admit it. That’s partly the reason why Sam plays pranks on unsuspecting passerbys, talks absolute crap when his friends are too quiet and picks on his siblings when he has nothing better to do.

There’s no denying that Sam is a flirt. He goes after just about everything that moves, even his mates’ girls. Of course, he’s not serious about them. They are his mates’ girls after all. And no, he doesn’t do second helpings or leftovers. That’s just gross. Sam treasures the friendship he has with the group of Gryffindor boys, though he wonders every now and then if he’d have gone a completely different way. After all, the sorting hat did mention he might do rather well in Slytherin. Sam’s an ambitious person. Between all his pranks, the girls and Quidditch, he has managed to get his grades up. He might not look the type, but he catches onto things pretty quickly.

He’s highly competitive as well. Being a Beater on the Quidditch team means he gets a legitimate reason to bash his rivals’ heads in. Not that he does that. Not deliberately. He doesn’t like losing too much either. Sam does have a temper, but instead of the fiery kind, prone to flaring up, he’s more likely to bid his time to take revenge or even let someone know they’ve upset him.

HISTORY:

It was a cold autumn day when Samuel Finnigan was born. His mother, Lavender, was not a happy camper when she started having labour pains. Nonetheless, it was all worth it when she saw her first son. Her husband, Seamus, was unfortunately, not at her side and it was something that he was getting an earful for over the next few years. He was at the births of Sam’s siblings, Thomas and Evangeline. That was the Finnigan family.

Sam got along well enough with his father, but did his best to drive his mother nuts. Not on purpose, of course. He just figured it was fun to topple the bowl full of flour or try to pull out the feathers of their family owl. He got plenty of glares and spanks for his efforts. Needless to say, he was not an entirely good role model for his younger siblings. Still, he did try his best to look out for them in Hogwarts, even if they didn’t know about it. Sam could be intimidating when he tried.

He was the first in his family to Hogwarts and when he got there, he became friends with a group of boys. James, Andrew and Francis. There was also a rivalry with a Slytherin group of boys, not very unlike them. Being sorted into Gryffindor, Sam was rather pleased, although he kept the fact that he might have done well in Slytherin from everyone else. Andrew had gotten into Gryffindor and there was no doubt that James Sirius Potter could be in any house other than Gryffindor. Francis McLaggen completed the group.

Throughout Hogwarts, Sam had his fair share of detentions and failed tests. He hated studying, but found that he perked up a whole lot if there was a pretty girl who tutored him. He passed his tests and exams with rather average grades. In his last two years at Hogwarts, his grades went up because he had to maintain a certain level of grades in order to continue in the Quidditch team. Or so his Professors told him.

Sam had an on and off girlfriend in Hogwarts. Emily Gables. She was a clingy girl and whenever she got too possessive of him, Sam broke it off. Now, she might be the closest thing to a true love he ever has. If Sam believes in that sort of thing. Which he doesn't.

Once he left Hogwarts, Sam was jobless for a couple of weeks. Well, more like months. He crashed at Andrew Abercrombie's place for a while, before securing a job at the Department of Mysteries. Sam did a silly thing after getting a job. He dated Lucy Weasley for about half a year. That all went horrible wrong when a baby turned up at his doorstep. His former girlfriend, Emily, had gotten pregnant with his child.

Fast forward to nearly half a year later. Sam is now living with Emily, taking care of their daughter together. His relationship with James is strained and he's completely not in contact with Lucy. So all in all, Sam has quite a life ahead of him.
